Ganderbal, Apr 29 (KNO): A day after a vehicle fell into a gorge on Sonamarg road resulting in multiple deaths, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir visited Gagangeer-Sonamarg area, urging drivers to avoid overloading and rash driving.
Accompanied by Dysp Ganderbal/Bandipora and DTI Ganderbal/Bandipora, he directed police personnel stationed at TCP Sonamarg to manage traffic effectively.
As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), due to ongoing wet weather conditions, Zojila road has been suspended for at least two days, with vehicles stranded on the road. Travellers are advised to stay updated on road conditions and comply with safety instructions during this period.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police has issued a weather advisory due to continuous snowfall and adverse climatic changes in hilly areas.
It advised motorists to avoid travel on routes prone to landslides and areas with high water levels near rivers and streams.
“Specifically, travel is discouraged on Sadhna Top, Kupwara Machil road, Gurez-Bandipora road, Hung area of Sonmarg, Zojila Stretch of SSG road, Mughal road, Sinthan top, and similar routes until weather conditions improve. Vehicular traffic will not be permitted on these routes until further notice,” it said—(KNO)
